Find Local Food’s founder, Peter Richardson, has a huge heart for people, loves fresh organic food and uses technology to connect people together. He has worked in information technology since 1996, spent 12 years organizing thousands of people over 100 international retreats in personal development, and owned an organic produce CSA (community supported agriculture) distribution in Arizona. He understands people, technology, and the challenges local food producers face reaching into their community.
In 2010 he co-founded a small organic food distribution business in rural Arizona. He spent 3 years in the ups and downs of the local food system, learning directly from farmers and local food producers about the real challenges they face. His business distributed fresh organic produce to hundreds of homes throughout the region. However, this was not enough to create a sustainable business and he closed it in 2013.
After returning back to web development Peter reflected on an idea he had some years before. He wanted to build a simple system that connects local food producers to their community. In November 2014, with a much broader perspective, he decided to build this system; but not just for one community, for all communities. Find Local Food was born and is fueled by his passion to use what he has learned in the most positive and impactful way for everyone.
Peter is an avid gardener, loves cooking, nature photographer and seed collector. He and his wife Sheri live on Vancouver Island, BC when they are not road tripping town to town talking with people about locally grown foods.
